Vineyards
Growing area: the Marche, province of Ancona.
Location: in the Rosso Conero zone, near the Monte Conero promontory, on the Marche coast of the Adriatic sea.
Age: 8-30 years.
Soils: the soils derive from limestone-marl rocks interspersed with zones of dark red earth, clay and Plio-Pleistocene era rock near the promontory.
Aspect and elevation: near the sea, largely in positions protected from the cold north winds, at 100-250 m.
Varieties and growing practices
Grapes: 100% Montepulciano
Training system: guyot, double guyot, and spurred cordon.
Vineyard density: 2.500-4.000 viness per hectare.
Yield: 9-10 t. of grapes.
Vinification
Harvest: hand-picked and by machine.
Vinification: an innovative wine, produced with pre-fermentation cold maceration, then controlled-temperature fermentation, followed by early racking “a dolce” (with residual sugar).
Maturation: partly in wood, partly in cement vats for about 7 months.
Tasting notes
Appearance: deep ruby red with purple highlights.
Bouquet: bright cherry and wild red berry fruit, particularly raspberry and strawberry, with floral notes of violets.
Palate: velvety texture, well balanced, with a vibrant crispness.
Alcohol
13,00% vol.
Cellaring
It can already be enjoyed in the year following harvest. Its obvious youthful qualities best suit it to be enjoyed during its first 2 years, but it will give considerable pleasure even after that.
Serving suggestions
This Rosso Conero is a red that breaks the rules, since it is designed top air well with substantial fish dishes: grilled fish, stews and dried cod. Wonderful in the summer, chilled just slightly, accompanying meals of cold cuts or lighter meats.
Serving temperature
16° C.
